Several prominent American law firms, including Paul Weiss, Quinn Emanuel, and Proskauer, have reportedly explored the possibility of selling equity stakes in their businesses to private equity (PE) groups, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Insiders revealed that Quinn Emanuel has engaged in discussions with Guggenheim Securities regarding potential private investment options. However, the firm has not yet reached a final decision or initiated a formal sale process.
Management at Paul Weiss has held meetings with New Mountain Capital over the past several months. The firm stated that it considered some investment proposals at the request of its business partners many months ago, but added: "We are not currently pursuing such matters."
Proskauer has met with at least one private equity firm to discuss the structure of a management services organization (MSO), while White & Case has also been examining similar frameworks. Both firms declined to comment to the media.
