Cyberport Chairman Chen Ximing revealed that the Phase 5 expansion project was completed in June this year, increasing total floor area by 40% compared to before. Office occupancy has already exceeded 50%, with renowned tech companies such as Lenovo Group (00992) and the "Six Little Dragons of Hangzhou" having moved in.
Regarding the Hong Kong government's push for the "Southern Finance, Northern Technology" strategic layout, along with the development of the Northern Metropolis and the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hetao Cooperation Zone, market concerns have emerged about whether Cyberport will face competition. Chen Ximing responded that Cyberport maintains a healthy competitive relationship with the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park and the Science Park, with each having distinct functional focuses while collaborating closely.
On computing power, Cyberport currently has around 3,000P of capacity, with utilization rates near full capacity. For the HK$3 billion AI funding program launched by the government, about 40 institutions have applied so far, with approximately 30 receiving approval. Chen Ximing stated that Cyberport will fully meet market demand for computing power.
Regarding the Sha Ling Data Park, which is planned to open in 2029 with a computing power capacity of up to 180,000P, Chen Ximing expressed no concern about competition, adding that the more computing power available, the better.
