HUA MEDICINE-B (02552) has released its unaudited interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2026, revealing a period of accelerated commercial expansion and significant strategic milestones. The company's core product, HuaTangNing® (Dorzagliatin tablets), has entered a phase of scaled self-commercialization, with substantial gains in revenue and gross profit alongside continuous margin improvement. Notably, the company achieved a key global milestone by successfully launching in the Hong Kong and Macau markets, while multiple pivotal clinical data presentations at top-tier international conferences underscored ongoing pipeline innovation. The core operating loss continued to narrow, and the company maintained a robust cash position, laying a solid foundation for long-term sustainable growth.

During the first half of 2026, HuaTangNing® recorded sales of 3.055 million boxes, a 73% year-on-year increase, with net sales reaching RMB 378.9 million, up 74% from the prior year period. Total expenses for the reporting period amounted to approximately RMB 265.4 million, including selling expenses of about RMB 126.9 million and research and development expenditures of approximately RMB 66.8 million. Gross profit surged 99% to RMB 234.3 million, with the gross margin climbing 7.6 percentage points from 54.2% in the same period of 2025 to an impressive 61.8%. The selling expense ratio stood at 33.5%. Calculated on the basis of gross profit less selling and distribution costs, the commercialization segment achieved profitability of RMB 107.4 million in the first half of 2026, doubling from RMB 53.7 million in the prior year period, further demonstrating the viability and strength of the company's self-commercialization strategy.

The Hong Kong and Macau markets have now achieved regulatory approval and commercial implementation. Dorzagliatin, marketed as MYHOMSIS® (HuaLing Tablets®) in these regions, received approval from the Hong Kong Department of Health in February 2026 and from Macau's pharmaceutical regulator in June 2026 for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes. The company has completed distribution channel setup in Hong Kong hospitals and pharmacies, with the first prescription written in Hong Kong in August 2026, offering a novel treatment option for type 2 diabetes patients beyond mainland China.

Where the growth is coming from

Dr. Li Chen, founder and CEO of HUA MEDICINE-B, commented on the results, stating that the first half of 2026 marks a critical phase in the company's transition from source innovation to market value realization. The more than 70% year-on-year growth in both Dorzagliatin sales volume and revenue, combined with gross margin surpassing 60% and doubled commercial profitability, validates the company's successful evolution from research-driven innovation to rapid commercial development in the chronic disease sector. This achievement underscores the robust and sustainable market vitality of China's first-in-class global innovative drug, supported by the nation's full-chain policy framework for innovative medicines. Furthermore, the successful entry of Dorzagliatin into Hong Kong and Macau formally initiates the company's international expansion, with the Greater China region serving as a strategic hub radiating into Southeast Asia and Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets, allowing China-originated innovative drugs to deeply participate in the global metabolic disease treatment landscape. Looking ahead, the company remains committed to building a new paradigm for diabetes homeostasis treatment centered on glucose regulation, advancing next-generation long-acting GKA, fixed-dose combinations, and combination therapies. The company is also constructing a comprehensive human energy metabolism health pipeline covering disease prevention, special diabetes types, fatty liver and steatohepatitis, cognitive impairment, and frailty, while leveraging artificial intelligence to broaden the clinical boundaries and application scenarios of its glucose homeostasis platform, ultimately aiming to benefit metabolic disease patients both domestically and internationally.
