Citigroup has recruited three senior traders for its foreign exchange options team, capitalizing on a surge in trading activity.

Citigroup spokesperson Erin Tan confirmed that the Wall Street bank has appointed Eric Poon, a former employee of BNP Paribas and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, as a director on its Asia FX Emerging Markets Options trading desk.

In addition, Richeng Zheng, who previously worked at Bank of America, has joined Citigroup as a G10 options trader based in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Ying Zhou is set to join Citigroup's foreign exchange division in Singapore next month, taking on the role of emerging markets options trader. She previously worked at Deutsche Bank.

As trading activity gains momentum, options have become an increasingly important focus within the foreign exchange market. According to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) triennial central bank survey, the average daily trading volume of foreign exchange options more than doubled between 2022 and 2025.
