According to reports, mainland intelligent driving company Momenta has confidentially submitted a listing application to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company plans to raise at least $1 billion (approximately HK$7.8 billion), with China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and Deutsche Bank acting as sponsors. In response to the reports, a Momenta representative stated that there have been continuous rumors about an IPO and emphasized that the company remains focused on its business development rather than matters related to the capital markets.

Established in 2016, Momenta is a global leader in autonomous driving, dedicated to creating a safer, more convenient, and more efficient future for smart mobility through breakthrough AI technology. Leveraging a data-driven "flywheel" technical insight and a "two-legged" product strategy that combines mass-production autonomous driving (Mpilot) with full autonomous driving (MSD), Momenta provides autonomous driving solutions at various levels.

Public information shows that founder and CEO Cao Xudong is a graduate of Tsinghua University and previously worked as an engineer at technology firms including Microsoft Research Asia and SenseTime. Data indicates Momenta conducted its first Series A funding round in 2016, raising $5 million. The company has undergone multiple funding rounds since, completing a $500 million Series C round in 2021 with lead investors including SAIC Motor, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Temasek Holdings of Singapore. Participation also came from Tencent and Mercedes-Benz. The company also completed a C+ funding round last year, achieving a valuation of approximately $6 billion.

In 2021, General Motors invested $300 million in Momenta. The company had previously explored a listing in the United States in 2024.
