During the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC 2026), full-stack embodied intelligence large model company Super Dynamic set up a standard table tennis interactive experience zone on-site, showcasing the closed-loop capabilities of its self-developed next-generation SMASH 2.0 system, which spans visual perception, trajectory prediction, motion planning, and whole-body control. At the booth, visitors lined up to take turns facing the robot in a rally, experiencing the complete reaction chain of receiving, anticipating, and returning the ball firsthand. Faced with the robot's agile ball-handling abilities, one visitor remarked, "I've played table tennis for ten years, but today I lost to a machine."
In table tennis rallies, the ball travels at extreme speeds, spins unpredictably, and lands in hard-to-read spots, leaving the robot only milliseconds to react. The real challenge is not just swinging the arm, but the coordinated movement of multiple joints—shoulder, elbow, wrist, waist, and legs—within an extremely short time frame. It is reported that Super Dynamic's SMASH 2.0 integrates high-speed visual perception, real-time trajectory prediction, whole-body motion control, and embodied intelligent decision-making, enabling it to identify incoming balls, calculate trajectories, and plan swing actions within millisecond windows. This allows for autonomous serving and receiving in full matches, while consistently executing various shot types such as long drives and drop shots, with coordination and on-the-spot adaptability approaching that of human athletes.
During the exhibition, Super Dynamic also unveiled other products, including the KAIBot humanoid body with up to 117 whole-body degrees of freedom, the KAI Hand dexterous hand with ultra-high degrees of freedom, and the KAI Halo first-person data collection headband.
