Amphenol Corp. (APH) shares surged 6.36% in pre-market trading on Wednesday, as investors reacted to the company’s strong second-quarter financial results and an optimistic outlook that significantly exceeded Wall Street expectations.
The connector and sensor maker reported adjusted earnings of $1.35 per share, handily beating the analyst consensus estimate of $1.18 per share. Revenue for the quarter reached $8,758.1 million, also surpassing the IBES estimate of $8,232 million. The company's net income came in at $1,784.1 million, or $1.37 per share. Amphenol highlighted strong profitability during the quarter, with an adjusted operating margin reaching 29.8%, which included $80 million in net tariff recoveries.
Looking ahead, the company provided guidance that further fueled the stock's rise. For the third quarter, Amphenol expects revenue between $9,300 million and $9,400 million, well above the IBES estimate of $8,693 million. The company also projected adjusted earnings per share in the range of $1.40 to $1.42, compared to the prior-year quarter’s performance.
