During the 2026 A-share National Day holiday closure period (October 1 to October 7), major global peripheral markets generally showed strong performance.

Driven by both strong earnings expectations from tech giants and relatively accommodative macro liquidity, the US stock market continued its bull run during the holiday. The S&P 500 Index rose 2.19% cumulatively, while the Nasdaq gained 2.75% cumulatively, with both major indices setting new all-time highs during the holiday period. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also rose 1.2% cumulatively. Tech growth stocks once again became the core engine driving US stocks higher, with Nvidia and AMD both reaching record highs.

The Japanese stock market became the biggest highlight among peripheral markets during this holiday period. The Nikkei 225 Index surged 4.92% cumulatively, breaking through the historic 70,000-point mark in one stroke and drawing renewed global market attention.

Taiwan's weighted index followed the tech stock rebound wave, rising 3.89% cumulatively and setting a new all-time high during the holiday period, with its year-to-date cumulative gain now ranking first globally.

The South Korean stock market showed relatively independent performance with slight pressure. The KOSPI Index edged down 0.5% cumulatively, making it a relative laggard among major Asia-Pacific markets.

Hong Kong stocks exhibited a weak and fluctuating trend. The Hang Seng Index fell 1.96% cumulatively, while the Hang Seng Tech Index declined 1.39% cumulatively.
