General Mills has revealed that its classic, limited-edition Monster Cereals will return this autumn to commemorate the brand's 55th anniversary. The company is partnering once again with The Jim Henson Company to launch packaging featuring redesigned versions of the iconic characters.
This year, the chocolate-flavored Count Chocula, strawberry-flavored Franken Berry, and blueberry-flavored Boo Berry will receive a fresh look inspired by The Jim Henson Company's Muppets. This marks the second collaboration between the two parties following their initial partnership last year. Megan Brooks, Director of Family Cereal at General Mills, stated that fans loved seeing the characters reinterpreted through the creative lens of The Jim Henson Company last year, and the company is thrilled to collaborate again to bring more Halloween fun to store shelves.
In addition to the standard limited-edition boxes, a special, plush-textured Count Chocula collector's edition cereal box has been created for this year, designed to mimic the soft feel of a Muppet. This particular product will be available exclusively on Walmart.com starting October 1st, priced at $7.76. Nicole Goldman, Executive Vice President of Brands at The Jim Henson Company, mentioned that the team enjoyed bringing these characters to life as Muppets last year and revealed that a new highlight for this Halloween is giving fans the chance to transform their cereal box into their own monster Muppet.
The Monster Cereals line began in 1971 with the debut of Count Chocula and Franken Berry, followed by Boo Berry the next year. Since 2009, the product series has been available only as a limited-time offering each fall, becoming a signature Halloween season tradition. These limited-edition Monster Cereals will be available on shelves at retailers across the United States later this month.
