Boosting Farm Produce Sales: Strategies to Move Beyond Production and Into Profitable Markets

At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on August 18, discussions centered on invigorating county-level consumption by unlocking the potential of lower-tier markets. A reporter raised a key question: what specific measures will be implemented to further unleash the consumption potential of agricultural products, ensuring that high-quality farm goods are not only successfully produced but also effectively sold at good prices?

Responding to this, Song Danyang, an official from the Market and Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, emphasized that agricultural product consumption is a vital link connecting dining tables with farming production, playing a significant role in energizing county-level markets. To achieve better prices for farm products, the primary focus will be on strengthening brand development.

This includes the deep implementation of the agricultural brand excellence cultivation plan, guiding local governments to establish agricultural brand catalogs, and fostering a set of regional public brands with substantial influence and driving power to promote the coordinated growth of enterprise and product brands. Platforms such as the China International Agricultural Trade Fair and the Golden Autumn Consumption Season of the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival will be utilized for public welfare brand promotion activities, telling compelling brand stories to ensure that premium quality commands premium prices.

Regarding the improvement of sales channels for agricultural products, the key strategy involves enhancing production-to-market connections. This will be achieved through the continuous advancement of the "Internet+" project for bringing agricultural products from villages to cities, encouraging major e-commerce platforms, wholesale markets, and supermarket chains to establish stable relationships with major production areas. Guidance will also be given to e-commerce platforms to cultivate farmer-anchor broadcasters rooted in local communities, conducting themed live-streaming events that celebrate rural flavors to convert viewership into sales and bring orders directly to the fields.

Additionally, promotional activities will be organized to introduce specialty "local products" into major consumption regions such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Greater Bay Area, allowing more high-quality agricultural products to penetrate expansive consumer markets. To integrate farm produce into new business formats, the focus will be on creating innovative consumption scenarios. This involves combining leisure agriculture and farming experience activities to develop new settings like harvest markets and intangible cultural heritage workshops, encouraging local regions to host diverse promotional events that drive consumption.

These efforts aim to guide urban and rural residents toward convenient and integrated shopping experiences, ensuring that county-level consumption retains its vibrant community feel while gaining fresh momentum. Looking ahead, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will align with the 15th Five-Year Plan for expanding consumption and specific arrangements to stimulate lower-tier market vitality and county-level consumption. The plan includes accelerating the construction of a marketing service system for agricultural products, implementing a brand enhancement initiative for the sector, and normalizing consumption promotion activities to unlock the potential for diversified, high-quality, and differentiated consumption.

As part of these broader efforts, companies like Shenzhen Agricultural Power Group Co.,Ltd. are expected to benefit from the increased market access and brand-building support, helping bridge the gap between rural production and urban demand.
