Amidst the weight-loss market surge driven by GLP-1 drugs, the company has strengthened its market position while broadening its collaboration with medical device leader Dexcom. This funding round saw participation from GV, Dexcom, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. The parties also entered a new distribution agreement to integrate Signos's subscription service onto Dexcom's consumer website. Signos CEO Sharam Fouladgar-Mercer stated in an interview that Dexcom's investment reflects a shared belief that the application of glucose biosensing technology extends beyond diabetes management. "Dexcom's sensors collect glucose data, and we transform that data into actionable health guidance," he said. The AI glucose monitoring system developed by Signos focuses on healthy weight loss and is the first product of its category to receive FDA clearance in 2025. The device utilizes Dexcom's established continuous glucose monitor to track the real-time impact of daily behaviors like diet, sleep, and stress on an individual's health. Based on this data, it provides personalized recommendations to help users develop healthier habits. "No one wants to study statistics to understand their own body. Our job is to translate the information behind glucose data into practical advice. Using pattern recognition technology, the product also helps users build healthy habits and manage weight effectively long-term," Fouladgar-Mercer said. The startup did not disclose its valuation following this funding round. The new capital will be used to enhance predictive AI features, such as a food scoring function. The system will use individual user data to warn if specific foods are likely to cause a sharp glucose spike before consumption. Fouladgar-Mercer emphasized that the true value of artificial intelligence lies in converting human physiological data into practical guidance that anyone can use directly. "A user takes a photo of their food, and the AI identifies ingredients, calculates macronutrients, and incorporates daily activity data. The core is about assessing the body's response in real-time, providing feedback, and ultimately guiding users toward lifestyle improvements," he explained. He noted that this service can be used in conjunction with GLP-1 weight-loss medications or as a standalone weight management solution. Currently, demand for high-priced GLP-1 drugs like Novo Nordisk's Wegovy and Eli Lilly's Zepbound is soaring, fueling a hot weight-loss market. This deepened partnership with Dexcom is expected to significantly increase Signos's visibility within the industry. U.S. government data indicates nearly 74% of American adults are affected by obesity or are overweight. JPMorgan Chase predicts that by 2030, approximately 25 million people in the U.S. will be using GLP-1 drugs, more than double the number from 2025. Fouladgar-Mercer stated that the company is not currently disclosing specific revenue or user numbers. However, over the past six months, both revenue and user base have grown tenfold, with tens of thousands of individuals participating in related clinical trials. "Simply tracking metrics like step count and heart rate is useful, but without monitoring metabolic intake and the body's response, it's difficult to help users effectively," he concluded.
