On March 13, the Wumart supermarket in Beijing's Haidian District completed its transformation into an AI-driven retail model and officially reopened. The store is strategically located to serve the dense concentration of technology companies, universities, established residential communities, and apartments in the Zhongguancun area. Its core customer base includes working professionals, university students and faculty, and families who prioritize both efficiency and quality.

Following the renovation, the Zhongguancun store has undergone a significant optimization of its product assortment. Leveraging AI-powered product selection, the store has introduced a selection where 70% consists of new and popular items, including imported goods, viral products, and daily necessities. With spring arriving in Beijing, the store has also enhanced its supply of seasonal spring products. The fresh food section now features spring vegetables such as Chinese toon, asparagus, pea tips, and shepherd's purse.

According to previously disclosed data from Wumart, after the launch of its first AI-driven retail store on Xueqing Road in Haidian District, average daily sales for prepared foods and baked goods increased by 17 times and nearly 5 times, respectively, becoming key factors in attracting repeat customers. Furthermore, since the transformation initiative began in March 2025, Wumart's "AI-driven retail" model has received positive market validation. Stores in Beijing that have undergone the transformation have generally seen average daily sales and customer foot traffic increase by 50% to 300% compared to pre-renovation figures. Notably, the Xueqing Road store, which served as the pilot "New Wumart" location, reported an increase of over 2.5 times in average daily offline sales and a nearly 1.5 times rise in transaction volume.
