Driven by the dual forces of new power system construction and AI computing infrastructure expansion, the application boundaries of energy storage continue to broaden, and computing power supporting storage is growing into an important new increment for the industry. Wind data shows that since September, 37 listed companies in the lithium battery supply chain have released investor relations activity records. Many listed companies have stated that energy storage and AI computing power storage will become relatively certain incremental areas for future performance.

BYD Company Limited in its September investor relations activity record announcement explicitly listed energy storage as a strategic priority business. It is reported that in the first half of 2026, BYD's energy storage system shipments ranked first globally, with business covering more than 110 countries and regions, and deployment scenarios including power generation side, grid side, commercial and industrial, residential, and AIDC computing power supporting storage. "The company will continue to explore opportunities for large-scale overseas energy storage projects on the one hand, and on the other hand seize opportunities from domestic new power system construction, pursuing a balance between scale and profitability, and promoting the steady development of the energy storage segment. In the future, the company will firmly grasp the dual strategic opportunities of global new energy transformation and AI computing power demand release, adhere to technological innovation as the core driving force, and rely on full industry chain vertical integration capabilities and brand advantages to build differentiated competitive barriers," a relevant person from BYD told the Securities Daily reporter.

On September 22, Farasis Energy (Ganzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Farasis Energy") stated in its published investor relations activity record announcement that in terms of energy storage business, the company will accelerate the construction of new business growth poles. Relying on the industrial, capital, and application scenario resources of Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., it will focus on developing large-scale storage business and accelerate the development and industrialization layout of large prismatic cell energy storage standard products.

At the same time, energy storage and computing power storage are driving demand for large-capacity battery cells, and the technology competition among upstream and midstream material enterprises is accelerating in tandem. Lithium iron phosphate, as the current mainstream material for energy storage, continues to iterate, while solid-state battery materials are accelerating industrialization verification as a medium-to-long-term reserve route. For example, Hubei Wanrun New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., whose main business is the research and development, production, and sales of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials, achieved revenue of 12.426 billion yuan in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 180.13%; shipments reached 242,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 63.22%; and net profit attributable to parent company was 602 million yuan, turning profitable year-on-year. The company stated in its early September investor activity relations record announcement that since the third quarter, due to strong downstream customer demand, increased orders from strategic customers, and continuous development of new products, the company currently continues to maintain full production, and it is expected that the high prosperity state of industry demand will continue in the fourth quarter of this year and next year.

In the solid-state battery field, Farasis Energy disclosed the industrialization progress of solid-state batteries during its research. The new generation semi-solid battery energy density exceeds 400Wh/kg (watt-hours per kilogram), successfully passing national standard safety tests including overcharge, over-discharge, thermal box, short circuit, and extrusion, completing customer dimension sample delivery, and entering the pilot testing stage, possessing strong commercialization potential. At present, the company's overall all-solid-state battery progress has moved from the laboratory to the pilot testing stage, and it is accelerating the construction of a sulfide all-solid-state battery pilot production line. The 60Ah (ampere-hour) sulfide all-solid-state battery is expected to roll off the production line by the end of this year.

"The long-term growth logic of the energy storage track is clear, with continuous volume growth in multiple scenarios such as new energy grid connection, grid peak shaving, and green power direct connection, and market space steadily expanding. Computing power storage, as an emerging increment for energy storage, relies on data center uninterruptible power supply and peak-valley electricity price arbitrage demand, with outstanding growth potential. Facing market opportunities, supply chain enterprises are making efforts from multiple dimensions: upstream material and equipment manufacturers are accelerating the research and development of energy storage products adapted to computing power scenarios; system integrators are launching customized energy storage solutions to deeply cultivate data center customers; and some enterprises are seizing orders through project cooperation and capacity layout. However, computing power storage has higher requirements for system safety and rapid response capabilities. While seizing orders, enterprises also need to balance project economics, strengthen operation and maintenance capabilities, avoid homogeneous competition, and promote the coordinated and high-quality development of the energy storage and computing power industries," Luo Huanta, founder of Dadong Times Think Tank, told the Securities Daily reporter.
