Aug 17

On August 17, SITC rose 5.35% in regular trading, trading at HK$42.96, with turnover of HK$95.79 million.

The rally was driven by escalating Red Sea geopolitical tensions coupled with a strong guidance upgrade from global shipping giant Maersk. Maersk delivered robust second-quarter results and raised its full-year EBIT guidance to US$4.5-6.5 billion, while forecasting global container shipping volume growth of approximately 4% for the year.

Meanwhile, JPMorgan recently initiated coverage on SITC with an Overweight rating and a target price of HK$47, citing its high-density intra-Asia network, diversified customer base spanning Greater China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia, as well as industry-leading operating cash flow, net cash position and high dividend payout ratio. JPMorgan noted the market has yet to fully reflect SITC's structural advantages and disciplined fleet management.

Within the Marine sector, peers also rallied broadly, with OOIL up 6.82%, TS Lines up 6.58%, COSCO SHIP HOLD up 5.29%, LC Logistics up 3.69%, and Pacific Basin up 1.93%.
