New China Life Insurance Company Ltd. (NCI) announced that Central Huijin Investment Ltd., the insurer’s largest shareholder with a 31.34% stake, has formally nominated Huang Geng as a non-executive director candidate for the company’s ninth Board of Directors.
At the eighth meeting of NCI’s ninth-session Board held on 10 June 2026, directors approved the “Proposal on the Nomination of Mr. Huang Geng as a Candidate for Non-executive Director.” The nomination will be presented at the forthcoming shareholders’ general meeting; a final appointment remains contingent on regulatory approval.
Huang Geng, born in January 1975, is currently Division Director of Property and Casualty Insurance Supervision Division I under the National Financial Regulatory Administration, holding a Level II bureau-rank position. Since 2000 he has served in various supervisory and investigative roles at the National Financial Regulatory Administration, its predecessor the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, and the Guangzhou branch of the People’s Bank of China. Huang holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Jinan University (July 2000).
If confirmed, Huang will sign a service contract with NCI, serving without director’s fees or other emoluments for the remainder of the ninth Board’s term. The company states that he holds no NCI shares, has no related-party relationships with existing directors or major shareholders, and has no additional matters requiring shareholder attention under Hong Kong Listing Rule 13.51(2)(h)–(v).
NCI’s current Board lineup comprises Chairman and Executive Director Yang Yucheng; Executive Director Gong Xingfeng; non-executive directors Yang Xue, Mao Sixue, Hu Aimin and Zhang Xiaodong; and independent non-executive directors Ma Yiu Tim, Xu Xu, Guo Yongqing and Zhuo Zhi.
