Why I Feel No Sympathy for the Four Departing Hosts of EAST BUY

1. Recently, four hosts from EAST BUY—Mingming, Tianquan, Zhongcan, and Linlin—announced their departures one after another. 2. Each of the four hosts penned a farewell note upon leaving, with their criticism directed at the current management's altered leadership style as the reason for their exit. Frankly, these individuals come across as both overly dramatic and cunning. Could they not have left quietly? Could they not have parted ways amicably? By publicizing their "grievances," they merely aim to portray themselves as victims, seeking sympathy from their followers and public opinion. 3. At its core, this is similar to Dong Yuhui's earlier stance of "silence is golden"—one chose silence after a conflict went public, while these hosts are the ones making the conflict public. Both approaches essentially involve stepping on their former employer to play the victim and burnish their own image. 4. Since the incident involving Dong Yuhui's essay, I have had doubts about the professional integrity of these hosts. Particularly Tianquan, whose behavior of snapping at fans and throwing a phone—had I been in charge, he would have been fired immediately, 100%. Yu Minhong was simply too soft-hearted, and as a result, he stayed on only to later betray the company. 5. In the short term, the simultaneous departure of four hosts will certainly impact EAST BUY. However, having weathered the separation and departure of Dong Yuhui, EAST BUY possesses sufficient capability to handle such short-term fluctuations. Although I have never watched these hosts, I estimate that their combined sales ability likely does not match that of Dong Yuhui alone. After all, not every host has fans as devoted as "mothers-in-law." 6. Long-term, the departure of these four hosts will have little effect on EAST BUY. This is especially true as EAST BUY has been committed to developing its own products and a membership model, and has already made significant progress. This represents its capacity to withstand risks. 7. Dong Yuhui's departure objectively assisted EAST BUY in reducing its reliance on individual hosts. Beyond the "mothers-in-law" fanbase that left with Dong Yuhui, the consumers who remained in EAST BUY's live streams did so not just because of the remaining hosts, but more due to trust in the New Oriental, EAST BUY brand, and Yu Minhong's personal brand. Since Dong Yuhui's exit created a perceived "confrontation" between an individual and the company, the consumers and fans who stayed did so primarily out of loyalty to the corporate brand. 8. Furthermore, with EAST BUY's push into self-operated products and a membership model, consumers who purchase these products or join the membership do so based on trust in New Oriental and EAST BUY, not for the sake of any particular host. This is fundamentally different from the impulse buying stimulated by pure live-streaming sales. New Oriental once sold teachers, later it sold courses; EAST BUY once sold hosts, now it sells products. 9. New Oriental is the enduring institution, while teachers come and go. Many teachers have left, yet New Oriental has not ceased developing because of any single departure—instead, it has grown stronger. EAST BUY is the enduring platform, while hosts are transient. The departures of Dong Yuhui and these other hosts may cause some temporary pain, but they will not hinder EAST BUY's long-term development. This is not to say that teachers or hosts are unimportant—they still are—but the level of dependency truly isn't that high. That's all. 10. As for the hosts' complaints about the current management's strict, militaristic style—frankly, if it were me, I probably couldn't adapt either, and I'd likely leave too, haha. However, a company's CEO is responsible for the enterprise's development and performance, not for accommodating every employee's comfort or happiness. A mismatch is not necessarily the fault of the individual or the company; it is simply a matter of compatibility.
