Moderna Shares Jump 7% After Joining Nasdaq 100 Index

On Friday, Moderna (MRNA.US) saw its stock surge as much as 10% during intraday trading, reaching its highest level since December 2022. As of press time, the gain had narrowed to 7%, with shares trading at $210.95.

On October 9, Moderna was officially added to the Nasdaq 100 Index, replacing Warner Bros. Discovery. Following its inclusion, certain broad-based institutional investors that previously did not allocate to biopharmaceutical stocks will be required to passively hold the shares, while active institutions will also place the company on their watchlists, thereby increasing individual stock attention.

Additionally, on October 7, the company expanded its multi-year collaboration with Merck and Tempus to provide tumor sample collection, sequencing, and therapy design and manufacturing support for the potential commercialization of the individualized neoantigen therapy intismeran autogene.
