On April 2, Weibo introduced a "Creator Vitality Score" rating system for its Gold V accounts. This system quantitatively evaluates content creation and active interaction, offering high-scoring accounts increased traffic exposure and support. The initiative aims to enhance the sense of authentic community engagement and help dedicated creators—those who produce thoughtful content, share sincerely, and interact actively—gain more visibility.
Weibo stated that the new scoring system is designed to establish clear value standards and incentive mechanisms, encouraging high-quality authors with both creative ability and vibrant personalities to continue enriching the platform's content ecosystem.
The "Creator Vitality Score" is out of a total of 100 points, comprising two parts: content production (70 points) and active interaction (30 points).
The content production dimension includes four behavioral indicators: publishing original works, expressing distinct viewpoints, sharing personal social content, and forwarding valuable posts. These are intended to guide creators toward producing more authentic, in-depth, and relatable content. The active interaction dimension consists of two behavioral indicators: managing fan relationships and engaging in friendly interactions with other bloggers, encouraging creators to nurture their follower base and participate actively in community discussions.
Accounts that achieve a score of 70 or above will receive additional traffic exposure and support from the platform, helping quality content reach a wider audience. Creators can check their detailed scores in the Creator Center and adjust their content strategies based on platform recommendations.
By establishing quantifiable and actionable content value standards, the platform not only motivates high-quality creators but also provides a new reference model for content ecosystem development across the social media industry.
In line with its "authentic engagement" strategy, Weibo will also intensify efforts to curb malicious marketing accounts. Through a dual approach of supporting genuine, high-quality accounts while cracking down on low-quality promotional accounts, the platform aims to free up more traffic and exposure space for real creators. Moving forward, Weibo plans to continue optimizing the scoring system and associated benefits to promote the long-term healthy development of the creator ecosystem.
