Chip stocks rallied in premarket trading. Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares rose 5%; ASML rose 3%; Arm, SK hynix, Intel, SanDisk, Micron, AMD, Nvidia, and Western Digital rose 2%; TSMC rose 1%.

Optical communications stocks gained in premarket trading. Applied Optoelectronics rose 5%; AXT and Lumentum rose 4%; Coherent, Ciena, Semtech, Corning, and Photonics & Optics ETF rose 3%.

Precious metals stocks rose in premarket trading. Gold rose more than 1% on Friday, helped by a softer ‌US dollar and lower oil prices, while market players weighed lingering inflation concerns and the outlook for Federal Reserve interest rates. ProShares Ultra Silver, Gold Fields, and Hycroft Mining rose 4%; ProShares Ultra Gold, Endeavour Silver, and Eldorado rose 3%; Coeur Mining and Pan American Silver rose 2%.
