The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China and the Macau Special Administrative Region Government announced today that the central government will issue 6 billion yuan in sovereign bonds in Macau on August 20, 2026.

As 2026 marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, this will be the fifth consecutive year the central government has issued renminbi-denominated sovereign bonds in Macau. This move underscores the central government's strong support for the moderate economic diversification of Macau and the enhancement of its specialized financial industry's competitiveness.

The maturity structure of this sovereign bond issuance is more diversified, which is beneficial for further improving the regular issuance mechanism. It provides investors with more safe and stable renminbi investment options, playing a positive role in continuously optimizing Macau's bond market ecosystem and promoting connectivity between Macau, the mainland, and international markets.
