Attention all drivers! A new round of fuel price adjustments will take place next Thursday. According to the pricing rules for refined oil products, domestic gas stations will implement a new round of fuel price adjustments at 24:00 on October 15.

As of October 8, domestic refined oil forecasts indicate: gasoline prices will be reduced by 240 yuan per ton, and diesel prices will be reduced by 230 yuan per ton. Converted to retail prices, 92-octane gasoline is expected to drop by 0.19 yuan per liter, 95-octane gasoline is expected to drop by 0.20 yuan per liter, and 0-octane diesel is expected to drop by 0.20 yuan per liter. Note: The price changes mentioned in this article are only institutional estimates and predictions; the final adjustment magnitude shall be subject to official announcements.

This Year's Fuel Price Adjustment Calendar

While saving money during the fuel price drop is certainly a good idea, don't overlook the safety considerations and car maintenance tips involved in the refueling process—let's review them together.

Refueling in the Early Morning or at Night Is Most Cost-Effective

Since gasoline is charged by volume rather than by weight, and the principle of thermal expansion and contraction causes gasoline to expand in volume during the high temperatures at noon and contract in volume during the low temperatures in the morning and evening, refueling in the morning or evening allows you to get more mass for the same volume of gasoline, making it more economical. Some people may not care, but since we use our cars every day, the power of small savings accumulating over time should not be underestimated!

Don't Fill the Tank to the Brim When Driving in the City

Driving in the city inevitably involves traffic jams. With frequent starting and stopping, filling the tank to the brim will increase the engine load and lead to higher fuel consumption. There are many gas stations in the city and refueling is convenient, so there's really no need to fill up. It's best not to exceed two-thirds of a tank, which can reduce the burden on the fuel tank space. It's worth noting that small-displacement cars themselves have lower fuel consumption, and cars that are driven less frequently should reduce their refueling volume even more. With today's high fuel prices, refueling less in summer can also reduce fuel evaporation waste, which is another fuel-saving technique.

Additionally, a reminder: when the tank is nearly full, slow down the refueling speed. If you refuel too quickly, the expanding vapor and the gas displaced by the gasoline won't have time to be released, which can easily cause fuel to splash back.

It's Best Not to Refuel After the Fuel Light Comes On

When the fuel gauge light comes on, it means the fuel level has already dropped below the position of the fuel pump. If you always wait until this point to refuel, the remaining fuel in the tank is too little and may even run out, which will not only shorten the service life of the fuel pump but may even burn it out directly. In addition, when the fuel level is too low, the fuel pump can easily draw up sediment from the bottom of the tank, causing the fuel pump to clog or the fuel line to become blocked. It is recommended that car owners pay more attention to the fuel gauge and refuel promptly when the needle shows a quarter tank remaining, rather than waiting until the light comes on. After all, parts like the fuel pump and oxygen sensor are not cheap to repair.

Don't Refuel by Dollar Amount—Refuel by Volume

When refueling, car owners can arrange in advance with gas station staff to refuel in units of 10 liters, such as 10 liters, 20 liters, and so on, to ensure maximum benefit for themselves!

Fuel prices rise and fall, so it's essential to develop good refueling habits. Neither rushing nor skimping, neither being greedy nor cutting corners—that is the most cost-effective approach for both your car and yourself.
