On Thursday local time, U.S. President Donald Trump presented the National Medal of Technology and Innovation to Elon Musk and five other technology leaders at the White House; Musk later took to social media to congratulate those who received the honor alongside him.

At the ceremony, Trump called Musk "an industrial titan, an outstanding engineer, and one of the greatest founders in the history of technology," adding: "No one can compare to him." He praised Musk for spending his entire life savings in 2002 to found SpaceX, and said the company "freed NASA from dependence on foreign nations," enabling the United States to send American astronauts into space. He called the billionaire a "national treasure" and described him as a modern-day Thomas Edison.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell were also awarded the National Medal of Science by Trump.

Musk subsequently posted on X, saying: "Congratulations to Sergey, Jensen, Lisa, Michael, and Satya!"
