The Ministry of Water Resources has released a comprehensive plan outlining the development of hydrological remote sensing satellite applications from 2026 to 2035. The initiative aims to significantly enhance satellite resources by systematically advancing four key areas: satellite resources, data resources, operational applications, and innovation and technical standards.

According to the plan, by 2030, a preliminary hydrological remote sensing satellite application system covering major operational domains is expected to be established. The target for 2035 is to have a fully developed and comprehensive system in place. This advancement will substantially improve the coverage capability for sub-meter resolution imagery and further strengthen the rapid monitoring and response capacity for major water-related emergencies.
