QuantGroup Shares Surge Against Market Trend, Fueled by Strategic Investment for AI Model Development

The stock of QuantGroup (02685) has experienced a significant rise of over 16% in today's trading session, moving counter to the broader market trend. At the time of writing, the shares are up 16.3%, trading at HK$19.92 with a turnover of HK$245 million.

This upward movement follows a recent company announcement. On July 9, 2026, the company entered into a subscription agreement with Fortune Financial Products Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fortune Quantum (00290). Under this agreement, the subscriber has conditionally agreed to purchase approximately 4.6 million new shares, representing about 0.89% of the company's existing issued share capital.

The subscription price was set at HK$13.05 per share. This represents a discount of approximately 15% compared to the closing price of HK$15.35 per share on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on the date of the agreement.

The total gross proceeds expected from this subscription are HK$60 million, with net proceeds anticipated to be around HK$59.7 million. The company has outlined its intended use for these funds.

Allocation of Proceeds

According to the announcement, the net proceeds will be allocated as follows: 40% is earmarked for the procurement and commercial expansion of smart hardware. A further 30% is designated for research and development expenses related to its physical AI foundational model. The remaining 30% will be used for the company's general working capital requirements.
