At the 2026 World Robot Conference (WRC 2026), Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center CEO Xiong Youjun shared insights with media, highlighting Unitree Robotics' public listing as a strong precedent for the A-share humanoid robot sector. "The key takeaway for me is that this will likely attract even more capital into the industry. Seeing such a successful case benefits the entire field," he remarked.
When asked about the center's own plans for a stock market debut, Xiong responded affirmatively: "We are fundamentally a company, but we also operate as a national platform. So, while we are committed to fulfilling our national mission, we certainly aspire to achieve sustainable development, which naturally includes exploring an IPO down the line."
Addressing the current trend of humanoid robots being primarily showcased in dance performances, Xiong offered a measured perspective: "I don't see this as a mistake. It essentially aligns with the company's positioning or its product strategy. Moreover, it serves a dual purpose of accumulating valuable data and acting as a proxy for product development, laying a solid foundation for future iterations. There's nothing wrong with that."
Looking ahead, Xiong envisions a future where humans and robots coexist harmoniously. "We are initially entering a 3D spatial context. From there, we will progress into broader industrial applications, then move towards commercial use, and ultimately integrate into households," he concluded.
