NYMEX crude oil near-month contract fell 1.03% on Thursday, closing at $83.59 per barrel

The NYMEX crude oil contract for September delivery declined by $0.87 per barrel, or 1.03%, settling at $83.59.

This marks the fourth decrease in the last five trading sessions. The price is now 25.99% below the 52-week high of $112.95, which was set on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. Additionally, it stands 51.24% above the 52-week low of $55.27, recorded on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Compared to the same period last year, the current price represents a 20.69% increase. The settlement price is also 25.99% lower than the 2026 settlement high of $112.95 from April 7, 2026, and 49.29% higher than the 2026 settlement low of $55.99 from January 7, 2026.

The contract has fallen 42.47% from the all-time high settlement of $145.29, achieved on Thursday, July 3, 2008. For the current month, the price has increased by 20.27%. Year-to-date, the contract has gained $26.17, translating to a 45.58% rise. All calculations are based on the settlement price of the current front-month contract.
