McDonald's China has officially launched its 12th annual "Big Fry Day" promotional event.

From July 22nd to July 25th, the company will release a total of 1 million digital "Potato, Fry, Cloth" event coupons in limited daily batches starting at 10:45 AM via its official app.

On July 25th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, customers can visit designated McDonald's restaurants with their coupons to participate in a rock-paper-scissors style game.

Winners of the game will receive a free large fries portion, while those who lose will still get a free mini fries portion.

The fries are one of the most popular classic products on the McDonald's menu.

Since 2015, McDonald's China has held the "Big Fry Day" event around the traditional Chinese solar term of "Dashu" (Major Heat), using promotions, merchandise, and customer experience activities to celebrate the season with its patrons.

The concept of "eating big fries on Major Heat" has gradually become a unique summer tradition between the brand and its customers.

For this year's 12th edition, McDonald's continues to invite customers to transform their love for fries into more engaging, recordable, and shareable summer experiences.

The company has upgraded the familiar rock-paper-scissors game into the "Potato, Fry, Cloth" in-store activity, celebrating the day with its classic fries.

It is reported that McDonald's has been promoting local potato cultivation in China for over 40 years.

The potatoes used for its fries are sourced from high-quality production regions like Inner Mongolia, utilizing premium varieties such as Burbank and Shepody to achieve the classic golden, crispy exterior and soft interior.

As of June 2026, there are over 8,000 McDonald's restaurants in mainland China, employing more than 200,000 staff and serving over 1.4 billion customers annually by 2025.
