In the first eight months of 2026, China's software business revenue reached approximately 10.28 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 8.8%, according to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on October 8.
Total profits in the software industry amounted to about 1.18 trillion yuan, up 1.3% compared with the same period last year, while software business exports totaled approximately 45.99 billion US dollars, growing 12.5% year-on-year.
Breaking down by segment, software product revenue rose 6% year-on-year during the first eight months, accounting for 21.5% of total industry revenue.
Information technology services revenue increased 9.6% year-on-year, making up 68.7% of total industry revenue.
Information security products and services revenue grew 5.7% year-on-year, while embedded system software revenue expanded 10.4% year-on-year.
In terms of regional distribution, software business revenue in the eastern, central, western, and northeastern regions grew 8.7%, 14.4%, 8.8%, and 4.2% year-on-year, respectively, during the first eight months.
Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong ranked among the top five nationwide in software business revenue, with year-on-year growth of 7.2%, 9.2%, 9.6%, 10.5%, and 7.1%, respectively.
