Russia's crude oil production in June fell to its lowest level in at least two and a half years, as Ukraine continues its near-daily attacks on Russian oil infrastructure.
According to an OPEC monthly report, Russian producers averaged daily output of 8.928 million barrels in June.
These figures underscore the immense pressure on Russia's oil sector: due to Ukrainian drone strikes forcing Russian refineries to cut processing volumes, the country has been compelled to export significantly more crude oil.
OPEC data based on secondary sources indicates that Russia's June output was 834,000 barrels per day below its target under the OPEC and allies agreement, and also 61,000 barrels per day lower than the slightly downwardly revised May production figure.
This also represents the lowest level since at least February 2024. February 2024 marks the earliest month for which OPEC began publishing complete monthly crude production data for the full OPEC+ alliance, which includes Russia. Production data prior to February 2024, dating back to early 2023, also shows that output in every month was higher than the June level.
