DigitalOcean Holdings, Inc. (DOCN) experienced a pre-market plunge of 6.26% following the release of its first-quarter financial results.

The cloud services provider reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.44, significantly exceeding the market consensus estimate of $0.27, while revenue of $257.9 million also topped the expected $249.7 million. However, the earnings per share represented a 21.43% decline compared to the $0.56 reported in the same quarter last year, raising concerns about profitability contraction.

Analysts note that the stock had rallied over 12% in the sessions leading up to the earnings release, driven by optimistic expectations. With results now public, profit-taking pressure emerged as investors locked in gains, compounded by unease over the year-over-year earnings deterioration despite the headline beat.
