The port of Caofeidian has successfully completed the inaugural general cargo loading operation for a Cape-class vessel operated by Wallem Shipping, marking a historic breakthrough in the port's capabilities for handling oversized cargo on very large vessels. This achievement adds significant strength to the Caofeidian-Guinea pendulum transport route.
The vessel was loaded with high-end, intelligent conveyor equipment custom-made for a Guinea bauxite project by Sichuan Zigong Yunji Group from China. The shipment consisted of 923 large pieces of equipment and 75 cold-rolled coils, totaling 21,000 freight tons. This operation is a key example of Caofeidian Port's "port-industry linkage" strategy in action, facilitating the export of manufactured equipment.
During the operation, all departments within the port worked in highly efficient and close coordination. The Production Operations Department and the Dispatch Command Center strengthened production supervision and information flow. The Cooperative Resource Management Center coordinated support resources, while the Information Technology Department provided全程 guidance to optimize processes. The operating units established a comprehensive support system under party committee leadership, with dedicated teams driving progress and full staff implementation, effectively managing the allocation of core resources like berths, equipment, and personnel to ensure a flawless operation. The ship's crew cooperated closely throughout, seizing the optimal operational window and streamlining workflow connections. The entire vessel was loaded in just 45 hours, setting a new efficiency record for general cargo operations on vessels of this class and earning high praise from both the cargo owner and the shipping company.
This successful operation signifies that Caofeidian Port has fully overcome the previous bottlenecks associated with loading oversized cargo onto Cape-class vessels. It tested the port's standardized operational procedures and its capacity for coordinated action, further solidifying Caofeidian's position as a key export hub for heavy equipment in the Bohai Rim region.
Moving forward, Caofeidian Port will use this operational innovation as a starting point to continuously enhance the efficiency of its port resource allocation. This effort aims to boost the export of goods from Hebei province and help more "Hebei-made intelligent manufacturing" products reach global markets.
