On July 13, iShares MSCI South Korea ETF declined 7.47% in regular trading, trading at 168.96 USD/share, with turnover of approximately $702 million.

On the news front, the Korean KOSPI Index plunged nearly 9% and triggered circuit breakers twice, falling below the 7,000-point level to a new interim low. Heavyweight SK Hynix closed down 15.4%, marking its largest single-day drop in history, while Samsung Electronics fell over 9%. Local brokerage KIS forecasted SK Hynix Q2 operating profit at approximately 60.4 trillion KRW, roughly 8% below market consensus of 65 trillion KRW, triggering broad-based selling. Forced liquidations in leveraged accounts reached a cumulative 344.2 billion KRW for the month, with additional clearing pressure from the crash yet to be fully reflected. Meanwhile, the Bank of Korea is widely expected to announce a rate hike at its July 16 meeting, further intensifying selling pressure.

The fund generally invests at least 80% of its assets in component securities of its underlying index, a free float-adjusted market capitalization-weighted index designed to measure the performance of the large- and mid-capitalization segments of the Korean equity market.
