Xu Zhenzhen, a recent college graduate who has not yet found employment, reported that her job search confidence has significantly improved after participating in a job-seeking skills training camp organized by the Guang'an District Human Resources and Social Security Bureau this month. "Previously, I blindly submitted resumes and had no strategy for interviews. Thanks to the one-on-one resume revision and interview technique coaching from the instructor, I now feel much more prepared," she said.
Following a provincial directive, various regions across Sichuan are actively rolling out similar job-seeking skills training camps. This effort is part of a broader initiative known as the "Skill Enhancement, Employment Promotion" special action, targeting youth with training needs, with a particular focus on college graduates who have not yet secured jobs by 2026. An official from the Vocational Ability Construction Department of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security explained that the primary goal of this action is to help these graduates and young people acquire marketable skills, thereby promoting high-quality and full employment. The core implementation period runs from August to October, with the first batch of training plans scheduled to include 306 sessions, capable of training over 12,000 individuals.
Three Broad Training Categories: Emerging Fields Account for 40%
The training programs are categorized into three main areas: job-seeking skills training, skill experience sessions, and specialized training in emerging fields. Job-seeking skills training covers career positioning, resume crafting, interview techniques, workplace simulations, and company visits to address gaps in practical experience. Skill experience sessions offer "micro-courses" in short video creation, AIGC applications, new media operations, drone piloting, home organization, and patient companion services, helping participants discover career interests and clarify career paths. Specialized training in emerging fields includes advanced courses on new energy vehicle three-electric system maintenance, internet marketing, AI training, cross-border e-commerce operations management, and generative AI system applications. Notably, courses in emerging fields like AI office tool operation, new media short video production, and drone piloting constitute over 40% of the curriculum.
Since the initiative launched in early August, local governments have been actively implementing it. Guang'an City has introduced premium training classes in drone piloting, e-commerce live streaming, and AI training. Neijiang City has released a training plan covering both emerging professions and practical skills, while simultaneously providing job-seeking guidance services. Leshan City has launched a "Jiazhou Skills Summer Camp," leveraging digital platforms like the "Leshan Employment Home" to gather training preferences and inviting human resources service agencies and key employers to participate, resulting in a reserve of over 1,000 high-quality positions.
One-Stop Service: Skills Certification and Job Placement
"Training is a means, not an end. The ultimate goal is employment," the official emphasized. The special training program is designed with a "training to job matching" approach, where job fairs are organized during the training period to directly introduce participants to relevant positions. For instance, at a job fair held immediately after the conclusion of the 2026 job-seeking skills training camp in Lushan County, Ya'an City, 12 participants secured on-the-spot employment intentions, achieving a seamless transition from "training completion to job seeking and job matching."
The department encourages participants to pursue vocational skill level certifications during the action. A tracking record for each trained participant will be established, with ongoing career guidance and job recommendations provided for those who remain unemployed for six months after training. This creates a comprehensive employment support network to help young people find their place in the job market. The official emphasized that the initiative is public welfare-oriented. Eligible and interested individuals can follow the "Sichuan Human Resources" or "Sichuan Employment" WeChat public accounts for updates, or visit their local public employment service agencies for detailed information.
Since the beginning of the year, Sichuan has been leveraging training as a key driver for employment, introducing measures such as "employment expansion incentives, skill enhancement, and safety-net support" for young graduates. Looking ahead, the province will expand job-seeking skills training, establish specialized skill enhancement classes aligned with the needs of key industrial chains, and offer unique training programs based on the provincial industrial layout. These efforts will incorporate "AI+" job-seeking training content to assist young graduates in securing successful employment.
