China Development Bank Reports Slight Profit Increase to 91.47 Billion Yuan in 2025

China Development Bank (CDB) recently released its 2025 financial report, showing that the bank's group revenue reached 146.40 billion yuan, with a net profit of 91.47 billion yuan for the year.

Net interest income remained the primary revenue driver, totaling 112.13 billion yuan in 2025. The group's average return on assets (ROA) stood at 0.48%, while the average return on equity (ROE) was 5.07%.

Calculations indicate that both revenue and net interest income declined compared to 2024, falling by 15.37% and 20.54% respectively. However, net profit experienced a modest increase of 2.82%.

The report further revealed that the group's operating expenses amounted to 34.34 billion yuan in 2025, a significant decrease of 33.03 billion yuan from the previous year, representing a year-on-year drop of 49.03%.

As of the end of 2025, the CDB group's total assets reached 19.55 trillion yuan, marking a 4.99% increase from a year earlier. The balance of loans and advances stood at 15.69 trillion yuan, up 6.79% year-on-year, accounting for 80.24% of total assets. Total liabilities amounted to 17.71 trillion yuan. Bond issuance remained the bank's primary funding source, with outstanding debt securities totaling 14.86 trillion yuan by the end of 2025, an increase of 11.52% from the previous year, constituting 83.92% of total liabilities.

Additionally, the bank's non-performing loan ratio was 0.34% at the end of the reporting period, down 0.03 percentage points from the previous year. The loan provision coverage ratio stood at 4.55%, a decrease of 0.25 percentage points, while the capital adequacy ratio was 12.81%.
