On August 12, JD.com, in partnership with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea, hosted a "JD Direct Sourcing Briefing and Business Meeting" in Seoul. During the event, JD.com (09618) officially announced the establishment of a localized procurement legal entity in South Korea, aiming to strengthen its direct sourcing operations in the country. Additionally, JD Global Shopping signed strategic cooperation agreements with nine prominent South Korean consumer goods companies, including E-Land (LLOYD) and RECLOW.
The JD Direct Sourcing Briefing and Business Meeting was held in Seoul, South Korea, as JD.com launched its direct sourcing initiative in the country, attracting over 200 South Korean companies for negotiations. As China's consumer market continues to expand and upgrade, demand from Chinese consumers for high-quality, cost-effective, and diverse imported products is rising. Categories such as South Korean beauty products, fashion apparel, snacks, and household items remain popular in cross-border consumption. The event drew over 200 South Korean consumer goods companies, and after business discussions, JD Global Shopping signed formal strategic cooperation agreements with nine of them, covering categories like fashion, lifestyle, and cosmetics. Through cross-border direct sourcing, JD Global Shopping will introduce fashion products from partner RECLOW and open a self-operated flagship store for them on JD.com. Brands like LLOYD under the E-Land Group will also engage directly with Chinese consumers via JD's official flagship stores.
A spokesperson for JD Global Shopping's South Korea direct sourcing business noted that South Korean consumer goods have seen rising sales on JD.com thanks to their excellent quality and product appeal. JD.com had already established a logistics legal entity in South Korea, and the creation of this new procurement entity provides Korean brands with a one-stop, Korean-language cooperative entry point in Seoul to enter the Chinese market. This allows more quality South Korean consumer products to be presented to Chinese consumers. South Korean brands are equally enthusiastic about the partnership. Kim Seong-joon, CEO of RECLOW Co., Ltd., stated, "It's not easy for small and medium-sized enterprises to enter the Chinese market with just product appeal. JD.com's self-operated model, which purchases goods directly from brands, lifts both logistics and settlement burdens in one go, allowing us to focus on product excellence." A representative from E-Land Group added, "JD.com's direct sourcing model significantly reduces our operational pressure in the Chinese market. In the future, we will offer competitive prices and bring quality products to JD.com users."
Leveraging its super supply chain advantages, JD.com is accelerating its global direct sourcing of products. According to the latest Fortune Global 500 list for 2026, JD.com's ranking has risen to 41st place, marking its 11th consecutive year on the list and its third year as the top private enterprise in mainland China. As China's largest brand e-commerce platform, JD.com continues to harness the power of its super supply chain, delivering "good and affordable" products and services while providing more efficient and predictable growth for brands and business partners. JD.com had previously established a logistics legal entity in South Korea, and on June 18, 2026, the JD.com South Korea procurement legal entity was officially formed. Building on years of experience in cross-border direct sourcing, and with a local procurement team, JD.com can efficiently delve into the South Korean market to discover quality products that align with Chinese consumer trends. This offers Chinese consumers more competitive product prices and reliable quality assurance. Furthermore, JD Global Shopping, as JD.com's cross-border import e-commerce platform, continuously innovates in areas like consumer scenarios, marketing ecosystems, quality and service, and business development to help more overseas brands land efficiently in the Chinese market. In July 2025, JD Global Shopping launched the "Hundred Billion, Thousand Products, New Growth Plan" for overseas brands, aiming to introduce 1,000 new overseas brands and achieve cumulative sales growth of 100 billion yuan within three years. A JD Global Shopping executive stated that in the future, the platform will continue to amplify its direct sourcing advantages in South Korea, expand the brand matrix, increase direct sourcing volumes, and launch more new product debuts and exclusive benefits. By continuously improving its global supply chain layout, JD Global Shopping will use its "Good Products, Good Prices, Global Reach" service capability to meet the diverse, high-quality import needs of Chinese consumers.
