A joint statement on advancing high-quality development in China's female health industry was recently unveiled during a thematic event focused on quality growth in the infant and female health sectors. The China Association for Quality and Safety of Consumer Goods, in partnership with the Whisper brand, released the initiative, which outlines a comprehensive pathway for building a high-quality female health ecosystem from three interconnected dimensions: individual, societal, and industrial.
The initiative encourages women to build scientific understanding and protect their physical and mental well-being by addressing menstrual stigma, normalizing female physiological processes, and learning to scientifically recognize menstrual flow and volume to identify abnormal signals promptly. It also emphasizes monitoring emotional changes during menstruation, adopting scientific coping strategies, prioritizing sleep quality during this period, enhancing health management awareness, and choosing menstrual products based on recognized quality and safety standards. Furthermore, it urges consumers to discern menstrual myths and avoid being misled by pseudoscience.
The effort calls for widespread collaboration across society to popularize health knowledge and create a menstrual-friendly environment, including breaking down silence and prejudice to allow open discussion of menstruation, supporting menstrual health research to benefit more women, and promoting the dissemination of scientific menstrual health information. Additionally, it advocates for industry peers to uphold safety standards, foster innovation, and drive high-quality development by maintaining a commitment to quality safety as a shared industry promise and pursuing technological innovation to continuously improve product quality and user experience.
Safety, the initiative stresses, is the fundamental baseline for the high-quality development of the female health industry. Leveraging Procter & Gamble's global scientific expertise, a team of nearly 600 scientists specializing in chemical risk assessment, skin sensitization, environmental toxicology, and life cycle assessment supports the quality and safety of Whisper products. According to the company, quality control begins with raw materials, with on-site audits and testing at production sources, and every ingredient undergoes hundreds of safety tests before use. The manufacturing process for Whisper is fully automated, enclosed, and end-to-end without human intervention, ensuring consumers are the first to contact the product. Each production line is also equipped with over a dozen 4K "Safety Eye" artificial intelligence vision inspection systems, which use millisecond-level detection to accurately identify anomalies that are difficult for the human eye to spot.
Liu Yuelu, General Manager of Communications and Public Relations for Procter & Gamble's Feminine Care division, stated: "Going forward, Whisper will continue to uphold the safety baseline, drive product upgrades through technological innovation, promote cognitive advancement via science education, and widely collaborate with industry partners and all sectors of society to bring Chinese women a more comfortable and confident menstrual experience."
