YOFC Shares Surge Over 10% as AI Supercycle Fuels Strong Fiber Optic Sector Demand

The share price of YOFC (HKEX: 06869) surged more than 10% in early trading this morning. As of the latest update, the stock is up 7.96%, trading at HK$28.2, with a turnover of HK$2.801 billion.

The positive movement is attributed to surging demand for optical fiber and cable driven by the construction of AI computing power networks. This has led to a rapid increase in the price of fiber preforms, the foundational material for fiber manufacturing, since early 2025. The price for standard G.652D preforms has risen by over 180%. For G.657.A2 preforms used in high-density data center cabling, the price per equivalent core-kilometer has jumped from 22-30 yuan to 160 yuan, an increase of nearly 550%.

Previously, Japanese fiber optic giant Fujikura, citing capacity expansion lagging behind demand growth, announced a 30% price increase for its data center interconnect (DCI) cable products and significantly raised its full-year performance forecast.

Notably, during the 2026 MWC Shanghai exhibition on June 24th, YOFC announced that its hollow-core fiber has now achieved cumulative deliveries exceeding 10,000 core-kilometers. The company has set multiple records, including the lowest attenuation of 0.04dB/km, the longest draw length of 91.2 kilometers, and the longest commercial link of 100 kilometers. With over 13 commercial and pilot projects deployed both domestically and overseas, YOFC has become the world's most widely commercially deployed supplier of hollow-core fiber.

Central China Securities previously noted that the company possesses a globally competitive edge in both traditional and new-generation optical fibers. Its integrated production of preform, fiber, and cable, coupled with leading manufacturing technology and continuous advancements in hollow-core fiber technology, positions it well to benefit from the growing demand for new fiber products required by AI computing centers and the global commercial scaling of hollow-core fiber.
