Three new high-speed rail stations will be added along two lines: the Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway and the Shanghai-Zhapu-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway. Let's take a look together.

Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway — Project Overview

Project route: The Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway starts from Tongxiang Station, passes through Tongxiang City and Haining City in Jiaxing, crosses the Qiantang River, then heads south through Qiantang District and Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou and Keqiao District in Shaoxing, finally reaching Shaoxing North Station.

Construction scale: The newly built main line is approximately 72 kilometers long, with the Tongxiang to Qiantang section about 34 kilometers at a designed speed of 350 km/h, and the Qiantang to Shaoxing section about 38 kilometers at a designed speed of 250 km/h. A connecting line of about 13 kilometers from Hangzhou South Station to Xiaoshan Airport Station is also planned, with a designed speed of 160 km/h. Image source: Shanghai Railway Group.

Planned construction period: The project is scheduled for a four-year construction period.

Station setup: The entire line includes Tongxiang, Haining Guanchao, Qiantang, Xiaoshan Airport, and Shaoxing North stations, among which Haining Guanchao, Qiantang, and Xiaoshan Airport are newly built stations. After the Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway is completed, passengers from Wenling can travel directly from Wenling Railway Station to Xiaoshan Airport Station, achieving a zero-transfer experience of "high-speed rail into the airport."

Hangzhou Qiantang Hub

Image source: Hangzhou Release. Qiantang Station is located in Fenglou Village, Xinwan Street, Qiantang District, Hangzhou. It is an important component of the Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway, the "origin point" of the future Qiantang High-Speed Rail New City area, and a key node in the multi-level rail transit network of the Yangtze River Delta.

The total construction area of Qiantang Station and related works is approximately 280,000 square meters, including about 70,000 square meters for the railway station building and about 210,000 square meters for comprehensive supporting facilities. Qiantang Station is an elevated station above the tracks, with a station scale of 6 platforms and 11 lines, capable of originating and terminating trains. Passenger flow follows an "up-in, down-out" streamline model. The hub will introduce Metro Line 8 and Line 19 (planned), bringing together high-speed rail, metro, and other multi-level transportation networks to form a well-connected transportation hub.

Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport Station

The new Xiaoshan Airport Station is located in Guali Town, Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou, on the south side of the comprehensive transportation center reserved in the airport's overall construction plan, between Terminal 2. The station is an underground station, implemented with a 2-platform, 4-line scheme (including 2 main lines), with an effective length of 650 meters for arrival and departure tracks.

The station building is a side-type underground two-story structure, with the first underground floor serving as the station hall and the second underground floor as the platform level. There are 10 ventilation shafts, entrances and exits, and evacuation passages at ground level. The total construction area is 56,000 square meters, with a maximum gathering capacity of 1,000 people. The Hangzhou South to Xiaoshan Airport connecting line toward the Taizhou direction will be implemented simultaneously.

New Shanghai to Hangzhou High-Speed Railway — Project Overview

The new Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway will commence full-scale construction within 2026. The preliminary works started in September 2025, with a total construction period of four years, meaning it is expected to be completed by 2029.

The Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway is located in southern Shanghai and northern Zhejiang. The line starts in the east at the under-construction Shanghai East Station of the Eastern Hub, utilizes the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway to Situan Station, connects with the under-construction Nantong-Ningbo High-Speed Railway via Jiaxing South Station in the Jiaxing area, links with the under-construction Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway via Tongxiang Station, and terminates at Hangzhou West Station.

The newly built main line is approximately 197 kilometers long (about 54 kilometers in Shanghai and about 143 kilometers in Zhejiang), with a designed speed of 350 km/h. The entire line has 9 stations, including 4 newly built stations at Fengxian, Shanghai Jinshan, Pinghu City, and Linping North, 4 renovated and expanded stations at Situan, Jiaxing South, Tongxiang, and Hangzhou West, and 1 existing station at Shanghai East.

Linping North Station Hub

The plot is located in Donghu New City, bordered by Ningqiao Avenue to the north, Hongda Road to the south, Xinghe Road to the west, and Heyu Road to the east. Linping North Station is sited in Donghu New City, Linping District, near the intersection of Ningqiao Avenue and Heyu Road, close to Long'an Station on Metro Line 9. Source: Yuan News.
