National Day Visa Services: Around-the-Clock Self-Service Kiosks and Post-Holiday Evening Sessions to Beat the Rush

Deep News
Oct 03

The Municipal Public Security Bureau Exit-Entry Administration Office has announced that as the National Day holiday approaches, outbound travel and trips to Hong Kong and Macao remain as popular as ever, so how should residents handle their travel permits during the holiday, and how can they avoid the post-holiday rush? Here is a breakdown.

Need a Hong Kong or Macao endorsement during the holiday? 24-hour smart self-service kiosks never close

During the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7, exit-entry service halls across the city will suspend in-person counter services in line with the national holiday schedule. However, six 24-hour smart self-service kiosk locations for Hong Kong and Macao travel endorsements will remain open around the clock throughout the holiday. Mainland residents holding a valid Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao can use the smart self-service kiosks to apply for individual tourism or group tourism endorsements for Hong Kong and Macao in person. Mainland residents who have completed business registration and filing for Hong Kong and Macao business travel can apply for business endorsements. With facial recognition and smart operation, the service offers three-minute document collection with round-the-clock availability, and eligible applicants can receive their documents on the spot.

Important notes

The smart self-service kiosks require the applicant to complete facial recognition in person, and no third-party handling on behalf of others is allowed. The Hong Kong and Macao permit must have had a previous endorsement, and its remaining validity must exceed 110 days. Those who are unable to use the smart self-service kiosks for any reason should visit a staffed exit-entry counter during working hours for consultation and processing.

Facing an urgent matter during the holiday? The 12367 hotline is available 24/7

The 12367 service hotline provides round-the-clock assistance with immigration management policy inquiries, application progress checks, and urgent processing requests. Call it, call it, call it.

Expect a post-holiday peak? Use evening sessions to avoid the rush

Based on experience from previous years, a wave of applications is expected after the National Day holiday. To help residents wait less and take less time off work, 20 exit-entry service halls across the city will open synchronized evening service sessions on two consecutive Saturdays. No appointment is required, and residents can visit the location nearest to them.

Before traveling, do a self-check first

1. Check passport validity. Generally, a passport should have at least six months of remaining validity. If it is nearing expiration, renew it promptly to avoid disrupting travel plans. 2. Check the validity of Hong Kong and Macao endorsements. Before traveling, confirm the endorsement's remaining validity. Before using a 24-hour smart kiosk for Hong Kong and Macao endorsements, the remaining validity must exceed 110 days. If it is insufficient, visit a staffed counter in advance or call the 12367 service hotline at any time for consultation.

Application consultation channels

12367 service hotline: available 24/7 with multilingual operator service. The "Shanghai Public Security Exit-Entry Administration" WeChat official account: policy inquiries, application progress, and document supplementation. The "Suishenban Citizen Cloud" app: pre-fill application information online to save time on in-person processing.
