To regulate the holiday market order, strengthen the defense line of intellectual property protection, and create a safe, trustworthy, and orderly holiday consumption environment, the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Center of Puyang City, Henan Province, recently focused on key commercial venues such as shopping malls and supermarkets to comprehensively carry out intellectual property rights protection and awareness activities. Wang Lin, Deputy Director of the Municipal Intellectual Property Rights Protection Center, participated in the event.
Staff members went deep into the front lines of supermarket operations, targeting popular product categories such as mooncakes, alcoholic and tea beverages, personal care products, and food items. They focused on identifying intellectual property violations including counterfeit patents, counterfeit registered trademarks, and geographical indication products. On-site inspections were conducted to verify key documents such as trademark use filings, patent marking labels, and procurement traceability certificates, aiming to prevent and resolve intellectual property infringement risks at the source and stop counterfeit and infringing goods from entering the holiday consumer market.
On-site "door-to-door" rights protection assistance and legal awareness activities were also carried out simultaneously. Materials such as the Intellectual Property Protection Handbook for Market Entities and Intellectual Property Awareness Materials were distributed. Consumers were educated on practical knowledge including techniques for identifying counterfeit and inferior products, channels for intellectual property consumer rights protection, and methods for distinguishing infringing goods. Consumers were reminded to pay close attention to key information such as trademark labels, patent markings, and origin traceability when shopping during the holidays, to be vigilant against counterfeit products, and to proactively avoid consumption risks.
For supermarket management and merchant operators, the campaign focused on explaining laws and regulations regarding standardized trademark use, lawful patent marking, geographical indication product protection, procurement inspection obligations, and intellectual property infringement liability exemptions. Business entities were guided to establish and improve mechanisms for intellectual property procurement review, ledger registration, and risk self-inspection, enhancing the intellectual property compliance management capabilities of supermarkets. Merchants were encouraged to operate with integrity and in accordance with the law, thereby solidifying intellectual property protection responsibilities on the business side.
In the next step, Puyang City will continue to closely monitor consumer market dynamics and regularly carry out intellectual property supervision and rights protection assistance services in key venues such as supermarkets, specialized markets, and e-commerce platforms. It will continuously strengthen the full-chain services of intellectual property legal awareness, risk investigation, and dispute mediation, further regulate the intellectual property market order, and support the healthy and orderly development of the market.
