OpenAI's Chief Revenue Officer, Denise Dresser, is set to leave the company within the coming weeks, having served in the role for less than a year. The company has appointed Dali Rajic, the former President and Chief Operating Officer of Google's cybersecurity firm Wiz, to fill the position.
The shift in leadership comes as co-founder Greg Brockman strengthens his operational responsibilities. Brockman is building his core leadership team to drive the company's next phase of growth. In a related move, Brockman has promoted Joy Jiao to head the life sciences division, focusing on research efforts. Jiao has been with OpenAI since 2022.
According to insiders, Dresser described her decision to leave as a "difficult choice," noting she will remain for a transition period of several weeks. She was previously tasked with temporarily filling the gaps left by Brad Lightcap and Fidji Simo—Lightcap had stepped down as COO, and Simo departed on medical leave, officially leaving last month. Lightcap also left the company this week.
Enterprise business becomes the core engine
OpenAI is intensifying its focus on the corporate market as it prepares for a potential future public listing. According to a previous report from DealBook, the company's annualized revenue from enterprise clients surged by 32% month-over-month in July, with large corporations driving the majority of the growth. OpenAI projects that by the end of the year, corporate client revenue will account for 50% of its total revenue. Dresser was a prominent public face for the company's enterprise efforts, frequently serving as a keynote speaker at corporate AI adoption events, appearing alongside CEO Sam Altman, and giving numerous media interviews.
