Beijing is advancing the innovation of the commercial space industry. On August 5th, the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee began a public call for reserve research proposals targeting key technological needs for reusable rockets.
Subsequently, the commission will collaborate with relevant rocket development entities to further refine and organize these proposals, conducting coordinated research and development. The initiative encompasses 12 specific research directions, including: high-precision, fast-response guidance and control technology for reusable rocket returns; development of integrated avionics and time-sensitive network communication systems for reusable rockets; applied research on high-accuracy and efficient prediction methods for aerodynamic forces and thermal environments of reusable rockets; modeling and analysis of propellant liquid dynamics in reusable rocket tanks; research on reconfigurable intelligent flight guidance and control technology for typical faults; research on the preparation technology for 5-meter-class lightweight composite payload fairings; development of a segmented real-time monitoring and rapid fault diagnosis system for reusable liquid oxygen-methane rocket engines; research on gas-gas direct centrifugal coaxial injector technology for full-flow staged combustion cycle liquid oxygen-methane engines; research on reliable ignition and high-efficiency, stable combustion technology for the annular preburner of full-flow staged combustion cycle liquid oxygen-methane engines; key research on digital twin-based health assessment technology for reusable rocket electrical systems; key technology and application research on digital twins for reusable rocket propellant management systems; and high-precision prediction and noise reduction technology for noise and vibration during the return phase of reusable rockets.
Applicants must be enterprises, universities, research institutes, or other scientific research institutions with comprehensive financial, archival, and research management systems. Collaborative applications between enterprises and universities or research institutes are encouraged, but only one entity can serve as the lead applicant. The initiative will provide support through a pre-grant method, with selections made on a merit basis.
From August 5th to 19th, applying entities can submit their proposals via the "Beijing Science and Technology Plan Integrated Management Platform-Online Service System" using a corporate digital certificate.
