Cadence Design Systems' stock surged 9.52% during Monday's intraday session following the company's announcement of a groundbreaking advancement in chip design automation.

The company unveiled its ChipStack AI Super Agent, described as the industry's first "fully autonomous" virtual engineer for semiconductor design. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA and utilizing NVIDIA's OpenShell runtime, the AI agent can independently carry out complex chip design and verification workflows. Cadence stated that the technology has the potential to reduce a typical multi-week verification process to less than a day, dramatically accelerating design cycles.

The announcement, made at the Computex technology conference, highlighted that engineers at NVIDIA are already using the technology to run millions of design verification tests. The Level-5 autonomous capabilities are expected to be available to early-access customers in the second half of the year, positioning Cadence at the forefront of AI-driven electronic design automation.
