The critical period for autumn cowpea seedling cultivation, field planting, and management has arrived. To further promote green vegetable production techniques, standardize agricultural product safety management protocols, and comprehensively enhance the town's vegetable cultivation standardization, greening, and regulatory compliance, Xuhe Town recently convened a training session focused on key vegetable green production and quality safety.
This session extended invitations to Zhu Yan, Section Chief of the Agricultural Product Quality Safety Division; Zhang Xiaochun, Station Chief of the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Bureau's Vegetable Station; and Lin Shuangxi, Station Chief of the Plant Protection Station, to provide instruction and guidance. Participants included agricultural technicians from the town's agricultural office, cowpea growers from key villages, heads of vegetable collection and storage points and agricultural supply outlets, and relevant personnel from the Sancang Regional Service Center project team. The session was chaired by Mei Yajun, Director of the Town Agricultural Office.
During the meeting, the three municipal-level agricultural experts delivered targeted lectures tailored to the town's vegetable cultivation practices. Section Chief Zhu Yan provided a detailed explanation of laws and regulations concerning agricultural product quality safety and requirements for scientific and compliant pesticide use, guiding growers to standardize their cultivation practices and adhere strictly to safety production norms. Station Chief Lin Shuangxi focused on the difficulties of cowpea field management, systematically explaining techniques for green pest and disease control and scientific prevention, effectively enhancing farmers' capabilities in scientific pest management and green care. Station Chief Zhang Xiaochun detailed the key points for high-quality and efficient cultivation management of green peppers and cowpeas, covering practical techniques from seedling cultivation and field planting to field management and yield quality improvement. The content was closely aligned with production realities and highly instructive, leaving participants greatly benefited and enriched.
It was noted that cowpea is a distinctive and advantageous vegetable industry for the town, serving as a vital sector for stable income growth among the population. To comprehensively standardize the vegetable production and operation order and establish a solid barrier for agricultural product quality safety, a specialized work plan has been innovatively formulated based on the town's industrial realities. This plan will be implemented from early August to mid-November, rolled out in three phases in an orderly manner. The whole town will systematically advance the special rectification through a "five one" closed-loop work initiative: conducting one training session, distributing one clear instruction sheet, signing one commitment letter, performing one law enforcement inspection, and establishing one demonstration point. This comprehensive approach will ensure the responsibilities of growers, agricultural supply outlets, and vegetable collection points are firmly in place, continuously standardize field planting management, pesticide application procedures, and harvesting standards, and comprehensively elevate the town's vegetable quality safety governance level, promoting a safe, green, standardized, and high-quality development of the vegetable industry.
Adhere to the principles of scientific pesticide application, consolidate the foundation of green cultivation, strictly follow green production standards, and standardize the selection and use of pesticides. Implement targeted, scientific, and rotational pesticide application according to pesticide usage instructions and professional technical guidance, continuously enhance the level of scientific pest and disease prevention and control, and ensure the green, safe, and standardized nature of vegetable cultivation from the source. Observe the regulations on harvest intervals, establish a firm bottom line for quality safety, firmly embrace the concept of safety first, and strictly enforce the agricultural product harvest safety interval system. Standardize the timing of field harvesting. Resolutely prohibit the use of pesticides close to the time of picking and market listing, strictly control harvesting standards, ensure that marketed agricultural products meet pesticide residue standards and are of good quality, guaranteeing safe market entry and confident circulation. Strictly implement the ledger management system, improve the traceability system for the entire production process, and ensure that all types of cultivation entities and agricultural supply business entities establish standardized ledgers for pesticide procurement, field pesticide application, and daily management. This ensures that the entire production process is verifiable, traceable, standardized, and controllable, supporting the standardized development of the industry through standardized management.
The session required all participants to cherish this training opportunity, update their cultivation concepts, thoroughly master new technologies and standards, strictly implement green safety production norms, and fully leverage their demonstration and leadership roles. By using exemplary points to drive broader adoption, they should radiate influence to guide surrounding farmers in improving their cultivation levels, achieving overall industrial quality and efficiency enhancement. In the next steps, Xuhe Town will closely follow the "Hundred-Day Action Plan," routinely conduct technical guidance and safety inspections, steadily improve the quality and safety level of agricultural products, and continuously polish the brand of the local green vegetable industry.
