The 2025-2026 sugarcane harvest season officially concluded on April 29 at approximately 4:00 PM, as the final truck carrying sugarcane from overseas substitution farming projects entered China through the Zhangfeng Port. This marked the successful completion of border entry support for imported sugarcane by the Ruili Exit-Entry Frontier Inspection Station. Throughout the harvest season, which lasted from late November 2025 to late April 2026, the station ensured the efficient and smooth entry of over 350,000 tons of foreign sugarcane. The total value of these imports exceeded 160 million yuan. More than 9,800 freight vehicles transporting sugarcane were inspected during this period. Specifically, the Zhangfeng Port handled 195,300 tons, the Lameng Passage facilitated 50,100 tons, the Nongdao Passage managed 32,200 tons, and the Leiyun Passage processed 72,400 tons.

At the Zhangfeng Port, border inspection authorities implemented a daily notification system for customs clearance plans, allowing for precise coordination with daily transport schedules. A dedicated "sugarcane channel" was established to optimize the deployment of police resources according to customs flow, enabling the efficient import of an average of 2,200 tons of sugarcane per day, with a single-day peak reaching 4,000 tons. The Nongdao Passage addressed issues of vehicle queue-jumping and congestion by scientifically designating waiting areas for trucks and implementing a pre-scheduled release system, ensuring smooth operations during peak hours. The Leiyun Passage introduced a convenient clearance model featuring "simultaneous inspection for multiple vehicles and immediate checks upon arrival" after consultations with local governments, customs authorities, and sugar manufacturers. By strategically positioning vehicle guidance posts, freight clearance time was reduced by 30%. Meanwhile, the Lameng Passage continued to alleviate pressure on the Zhangfeng Port by operating a tidal flow channel for sugarcane transport, effectively diverting incoming shipments and preventing delays, thereby ensuring a stable and efficient supply of raw materials.

The imported sugarcane has provided ample production assurance for sugar factories in the Ruili and Longchuan areas. As of midnight on April 29, the Ruili Yingmao Sugar Factory had processed 329,900 tons of sugarcane during the 2025-2026 season, producing 42,800 tons of white sugar and generating an industrial output value exceeding 190 million yuan. As a key component of cross-border agricultural economic cooperation and substitution farming between China and Myanmar, the sugarcane industry serves as a pillar for increasing incomes and prosperity for residents on both sides of the border.
