Hong Kong-listed artificial intelligence stocks saw notable gains on Tuesday, driven by fresh policy signals from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) emphasizing breakthroughs in frontier technologies.
As of press time on August 20, INSILICO (03696.HK) advanced 6.54%, MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) climbed 3.69%, and CFMEE (09630.HK) rose 3.28%, buoyed by sector-wide optimism.
The rally followed the 18th plenary session of the China Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance, held in Beijing on August 18. At the meeting, Gan Xiaobin, Deputy Director of the MIIT's Department of Science and Technology, called for intensified efforts in core technology R&D, including accelerating work on smart chips and exploring cutting-edge fields such as brain-inspired intelligence, world models, and physical models.
