Shares of CSL Limited surged 5.00% during intraday trading on Wednesday, following the company's announcement that it will launch clinical trials for its next-generation Horizon 2 immunoglobulin manufacturing process.

The biopharmaceutical giant revealed plans to undertake clinical trial work to confirm the efficacy and safety of immunoglobulin manufactured using the Horizon 2 process, a technology that enables greater immunoglobulin production. CSL also stated it intends to seek regulatory approval from both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA), with clinical activities expected to commence in mid-2027.

The Horizon 2 process represents a significant advancement in plasma manufacturing efficiency, potentially allowing CSL to produce more immunoglobulin therapies from the same volume of plasma. Investors reacted positively to the news, viewing the enhanced manufacturing capability as a potential driver for improved margins and expanded treatment access in the company's core plasma therapies business.
