Ever wondered how many soybeans you could pick up with a pair of tweezers in just five minutes?
At the preliminary round of the Second Humanoid Robot Dexterous Hand Challenge in Beijing, both the remote-operated group and the fully autonomous group kicked off an exciting soybean-picking contest.
The mechanical fingers carefully gripped the tweezers to pick up soybeans one by one, with the remote-operated group achieving an impressive score of 33 soybeans in five minutes. To encourage technological progress toward fully autonomous operations, the competition rules apply a weighting system, meaning scores from the fully autonomous group are multiplied by two.
Beyond soybean picking, participating robots also had to tackle practical tasks such as cable plugging and unplugging, unpacking boxes, and building blocks, testing their force control precision and operational stability.
After intense competition, up to 16 teams from each group will break through to secure their spots in the finals. We look forward to the hardcore showdown ahead!
