Samsung Electronics has announced that the Galaxy Z Fold8 series achieved 1.44 million pre-orders in South Korea, setting a new all-time record for the Galaxy lineup, as reported by local media outlet Businessplus.
This pre-order performance surpasses every previous Galaxy model, exceeding last year's 1.04 million units for the Galaxy Z Fold7 series and even outperforming the Galaxy Note 10 series, which previously held the record at 1.38 million units. The newly designed Galaxy Z Fold8 was the most popular variant, accounting for approximately 70% of total pre-orders. This indicates that the Galaxy Z Fold8 alone, as a foldable device, reached pre-order volumes of one million units.
The device features a 5.5-inch external display and a 7.6-inch foldable inner screen, both utilizing Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with adaptive refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz and support for HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG standards. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is equipped with a dual rear camera system, including a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization and an F1.8 aperture, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with an F1.9 aperture. Additionally, there is a 10-megapixel front-facing camera on both the outer and inner screens. All cameras support 4K 60fps HDR video recording, while the rear cameras can also capture 8K 30fps video. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 for Galaxy processor. Models with 256GB and 512GB of storage come with 12GB of RAM, while the top-tier 1TB version is upgraded to 16GB of RAM.
