Shangri-La Asia Limited announced the appointment of William Chua as an independent non-executive director and member of the Audit & Risk Committee, effective Mar, 16 2026.

Chua, 56, is a Princeton-educated economist and Harvard-trained lawyer who spent nearly three decades in private practice with international law firms in New York. He is admitted to the New York Bar and is a solicitor in Hong Kong.

Under the company’s bye-laws, he will hold office until the next annual general meeting, where he will be eligible for re-election, and will be subject to retirement by rotation no later than the third annual meeting thereafter.

For his board service in 2026, Chua will receive an annual fee of about 0.08 million Singapore dollars, prorated from the effective date, pending shareholder approval at the forthcoming annual meeting.

The company said Chua meets all independence criteria under Hong Kong listing rules and holds no shares in Shangri-La Asia Limited.
